Resignation Statement – Cllr Des Gibbons, Gedling

This morning I resigned my membership of the Labour Party.

I am incredibly disappointed that Keir Starmer continues to resist calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, while innocent men, women and children continue to die and suffer as a result of Israeli air strikes. The attacks on Israel on October 7th were horrific but the ongoing collective punishment of citizens in Gaza is disproportionate and breaches international law.

I will continue to work for the residents of Bestwood St Albans as an Independent Councillor.
